3 Smoothies for Beauty, Energy, Immunity

With summer approaching quickly, it is no surprise that many people are looking for ways that are both healthy and refreshing and the logical conclusion is, of course, smoothies. The nutrients of the ingredients and the coolness of the ice make these viscous drinks ideal for an active, sunny day. Here are 3 ideas that I found for beauty, energy and immunity to suit all of your different needs.
Peach-Mango smoothiePeach and Mango – Beauty

This peach and mango smoothie is designed to be revitalising and refreshing. It’s vitamin contents will leave the skin feeling brighter and exfoliated.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 fresh peaches, cubed
  • 2 fresh mangoes, cubed
  • 2/3 cup peach nectar (one small can)
  • 2 (6-ounce) containers peach fat-free or light yoghurt
  • ice cubes, optional
  • raspberries for garnish, optional

I love the little addition of the raspberries, not only do they improve the look but I assume that they add another dimension to the flavour and texture.

Matcha smoothie

Matcha and Honey – Energy

Matcha is said to have wonderful powers of energising the body. The addition of the honey is designed to add sweetness and combat the almost bitter taste of the matcha power.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp matcha powder

I actually find this light green colour more appealing than the bright yellow or orange. I think there is something about it that seems more cooling and fresh.

Blueberry smoothie

Blueberries – Immunity

The antioxidant content of blueberries is one of the highest among all fruits and thus makes it one of the best for increasing your immunity and keeping you on the go.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup low-fat or non-fat plain Greek yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup low-fat or non-fat milk
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 or 5 ice cubes

Blueberries are one of my favourite fruits, even though they can be quite tart. Yet this gives them a versatility that makes them suitable for almost anything. Blueberry tart anyone?

For me, nothing beats a healthy smoothie and when it is packed full of fruit it is such an easy way to ensure that you get your five a day.

Let me know what are your favourite smoothie flavours? Do you have any recipes with special properties?
